Gen kaushal is a graduate from Govt College Chandigarh and MSC from Madras University .Has served in Indian Army for four decades and thereafter has been a full time consultant with the MOD on defence industry and production. In his appointments as DDG ops and logistics at Army HQ and Chief of Staff of an operational Corps he dealt with material management, corporate planning and general administration at micro and macro level. As a Brigadier he attended the prestigious national defence college course (NDC) conducted by the MOD for high ranking defence and civilian officers from IFS, IAS, IPS, PSUs and friendly foreign countries. Curriculum covers an overview of indian economy, polity, administration, security environment, international relations and global issues. On promotion to the rank of Maj Gen the officer was nominated as a Senior Directing Staff at the NDC for three years .During this period he visited, as leader of NDC deligation various indian states and a number of foreign countries eg Spain, Syria, Egypt, Indonesia, Japan, South Africa , Mauritius, Bangladesh, Nepal and Bhutan. During these visits discussions with bureaucracy and political leadership focused on polity, economy and global issues like IT, Water and Terrorism. Gen Kaushal was awarded Vashist Seva Medal in 1991 & again Ati Vashist Seva Medal in 2000 by the President of India for his role in Kargil operations.
